Our Mission Statement

New England Regional Black Nurses Association, Inc. is a part of the national effort to unify, educate and increase the number of African American Nurses in this country. NERBNA is dedicated to investigating, defining and determining the health care needs of African Americans throughout New England. NERBNA is committed to implementing the necessary changes to insure that optimum health care is available to African Americans and other underserved communities.

How We Take Action

What We Do

  • NERBNA provides educational programs to enhance nurse’s competencies in leadership and ethical practice.
  • NERBNA advocates for and provides health services to the community to reduce mortality and morbidity in diseases that have a high incidence in the minority populations i.e. violence, cardiovascular disease, asthma, infant mortality, cancer, etc.
  • NERBNA is a repository of information about nurses of African decent in order to increase their numbers, facilitate networking and monitor professionals’ activities.
  • NERBNA awards scholarships for individuals pursuing a nursing degree: Student Nurse, LPN to RN, BSN, Masters and Advance Practice.

Together with the New England Regional Black Nurses Association (NERBNA), New England’s Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL) has developed The Nurse’s Pledge to Champion Diversity Equity and Inclusivity. AONL commends and supports NERBNA and ONL in their commitment to fostering active and purposeful change agents within the nursing community. Nurses in all regions and at all levels are encouraged to participate in the pledge and affirm their commitment to personal accountability and promotion of diversity, equity and inclusivity.
